Luis Mitrovic, architect.

San Antonio 696, Santiago.

On both sides of the entrance to the small Lidice alley stand these two twin buildings, the northernmost one being the seat of the traditional Gebert y Cía. department store. Here Mitrovic chose a rational design, unifying the two corners and making both buildings follow the same measures and structural detailing, though today they look rather different due to the intense modifications they have suffered. Both buildings make a proper frame for the memorial to the mass killings committed by the Nazis in the town of Lidice, in then Czeckoslovaquia, in 1942.
